Our goal is to produce 100 Padded Hangers for the St. Louis Soldiers Memorial Museum. The hangers are needed to store the hundreds of military uniforms in their care. Help us preserve this history and honor our Veterans!

Soldiers Memorial Display

Hi All!
One week from today, the Soldiers Memorial Museum display is coming to the Jefferson County Library-Arnold Branch. I do so look forward to seeing this small portion of their collection. The "sewing marathon" for the hangers is only 2 weeks away! We still need batting to make this happen! Volunteers are still needed to help sew also....even if you can't sew, we can put you to work! :) Please help us honor our Veterans! If you don't own a sewing machine, there will be one there for you to use.....Call 636-296-5171 for more information.

Have a great day!

We Still Need Quilt Batting!

Happy Friday!
The response on materials for this project has been wonderful! We've received enough hangers, but we still need that quilt batting! The sewing "marathon" is still three weeks away, but time flies! Our hope is to reach our goal of 100 hangers or materials for that many by the end of October. I am confident that we can do it if we pull together. We still need more volunteers to sew on the 15th of October. Don't forget to be at the library at 1pm. Even if you can't sew, there is something you can do to help with the assembly of hangers. At 2pm, representatives of the Soldiers Memorial will make their presentation and I'm sure it will be interesting and informative. For more information, call 636-296-5171 or email alee@jeffcolib.org.

See you there!
Have a great weekend!

We Have 100 Hangers!!!

We have received the 100 hangers needed! Yay! We still need more quilt batting to complete them, but I am confident we can do it! We are also in need of volunteers to help sew on October 15, 2010 or at home anytime between now and then. Don't forget the display from the Soldiers Memorial going up on October 4, 2010. It will be something to see! This is such a worthwhile project and I am so excited that there is something we can do to honor our Veterans. They've done so much for us! Won't you join us?

Have a great day!

Only 18 Hangers to Go!!!

We can do this! I received 30 more hangers this morning. We're only 18 away from our goal! We still need more quilt batting but I'm confident that it will magically appear. I need volunteers to help me sew! The sewing marathon will be on October 15, 2010, along with the presentation by the St. Louis Soldiers Memorial Museum. Check back soon and often for the confirmed times. Thank you so much to all who have contributed so far!

ACTIVITIES UPDATE

Hello Friends!
We have confirmed on Friday October 15, 2010 at 2:00pm, there will be a presentation by representatives of the Soldiers Memorial Museum. It is my understanding that they will focus on the history and function of the museum. It promises to be an interesting presentation! Also, on October 15, we will have our sewing class to make some of the hangers for the museum. Please check back often as the time for this has not yet been determined. I am very happy with the response on materials so far! Keep those hangers and materials coming!

Have a great day!
